Anna Nicole Smith Story to be Portrayed on Law and Order: Criminal Intent

We all knew this was going to happen eventually. In classic “ripped from the headlines” fashion, the story of Anna Nicole’s murder is going to be portrayed in an upcoming episode of Law and Order: Criminal Intent. Kristy Swanson is slated to portray Anna Nicole Smith and Jon Lovitz is slated to portray the money grubbing lawless lawyer Howard K. Stern. It will be the first time a fictionalized version of Anna’s story will be aired on tv, and the episode is expected to air on NBC in May.

I think Kristy fits the role of Anna well, she does kind of look like her, but Jon Lovitz as Howard K. Stern That seems like a stretch.

Anna Nicole Smith buried in the tacky manner she was accustomed to

Anna Nicole Smith’s funeral went on as planned today in the Bahamas despite her mother’s last-minute legal ploy to try to put a stop to it and have her daughter buried in Texas. Not only did Anna Nicole Smith’s mother continue her fight to bury her daughter somewhere else on the day of her funeral, but the father of Anna’s deceased son Daniel had his lawyer send a request to the Chief Magistrate of the Bahamas asking to have Daniel’s body exhumed and moved to Texas. It’s unclear whether the request was related to Anna’s mother’s fight for the body.

Howard K. Stern and Larry Birkhead, who are legally disputing custody of Anna’s child but seem to have reconciled after she died, arrived separately and were seen embracing inside. Anna’s mother was one of the last people to make it to the ceremony, and was met by boos from the crowd gathered outside.

About 100 people attended the funeral while curious onlookers, photographers and news crew clamored for a glimpse of Anna’s send off. It wasn’t cheap for press to get inside the gated community where the church was located. Camera crews were required to submit requests to cover the event and to pay a fee of $2,000 per camera and $5,000 per live feed.

Howard K. Stern says that the funeral was set up according to Anna’s wishes and that “she did have a lot of specific things that she wanted” Anna wore a pink beaded dress she had custom made specifically for her funeral in a prescient or wishful moment, and was donned with a tiara. Pink flowers decorated the church. Her casket was draped with a pink velvet fabric dripping with pink ribbons and feathers. Bobby Trendy wanted to hot glue them on, but according to her wishes he was denied.

Anna’s casket made it to the graveyard at about 1:30 PM EST. She was buried next to her son and with an urn containing some of the ashes of her late second husband J. Howard Marshall, the billionaire octagenarian whose money she was still fighting for when she died.

Howard K. Stern’s eulogy focused on Anna’s “truth,” and how he had a real relationship with her and will miss her. He said she was a smart woman who knew what it took to be famous.

Country singer Joe Nichols sang two songs requested by Howard K. Stern for the funeral, “I’ll Wait for You” and her favorite country song, Dolly Parton’s “Wings of a Dove.”

Anna’s infant daughter Dannielynn was not at the service.

The coroner who examined Anna says that he will be able to come up with a final determination of death within nine or ten days. Another medical examiner, the one Anna hired to examine Daniel independently, says that he doesn’t believe methadone was involved in her death. If he didn’t do the autopsy, it sounds like speculation to me.

Anna Nicole Smith ignored her baby except to underfeed her

The more I hear in this Anna Nicole story, the more realize she really wasn’t someone I could have much sympathy for, or even give a shit about. She was so delusional that, according to her former nanny, she ordered that her baby be underfed so that the infant would be “sexy.”

Her former nanny gave a sworn statement before Anna died, saying she was concerned for the baby’s welfare in so unstable a home and with an absent, erratic mother.

Anna insisted Dannielynn be fed only 2.5 ounces of formula every three hours instead of the standard 3 ounces because she was obsessed with her tiny daughter being “sexy.” She didn’t seem concerned for any other aspect of Dannielynn’s health or well being, though, and apart from strictly monitoring her food intake she wasn’t around much.

The nanny said that Anna spent barely any time with her daughter, preferring instead to be locked up for hours in her bedroom with the Bahamian immigration minister, or sleeping off her drug-induced haze and waking up in a foul mood.

Other caregivers included the friend and mother of Anna’s special favor’s lover, the bahamian immigration minister. Anna couldn’t be bothered to be around Dannielynn much, but she did tell the nanny that she would shoot her if she heard her daughter call her “mummy.”

Anna was also seen downing an entire bottle of sleeping medication, after which she laid in a coma for 48 hours and was surprised to wake up, telling the nanny she meant to kill herself. She also tried to drown herself in the pool, and once she was rescued by Howard he told her that he would get arrested if she died.

The nanny was ultimately fired after less than three months when Anna, in a drugged fit, accused her of losing the user’s manual to a new washing machine.

Other salacious details in the Anna Nicole Smith case include the fact that she had a doctor friend prescribe her methadone and demerol under a false name right before she gave birth to tragic Dannielynn. She had the drugs delivered to her in the Bahamas. She was friends with the prescribing doctor and was seen riding a convertible with him in a gay pride parade in 2005.

Our friends at Gabsmash point out that methadone is a liquid and that no pills were found in Anna’s stomach. Toxicology reports are pending, and it’s probable that she died of a methadone overdose.

The National Enquirer reports on Anna’s last drug-filled days, saying she was spiraling out of control after the death of her son Daniel. She smoked crack (they say cocaine, but I’m assuming it’s crack if she smoked it, my drug knowledge is limited), accused Howard of trying to kill her, never ate and was basically a mess:

An insider even claims they heard her outrageously yell at Howard: ‘I don’t want to see you again - you’re trying to kill me!’

“Howard never used drugs but Anna smoked cocaine every single day.

“She’d smoke the cocaine and 10 or 15 minutes later she would be a changed person, very animated and talking loudly.

“Sometimes she would smoke too much - and took pills to bring her down.”

The insider added, “Many times she was so drugged that she fell, often hurting herself. She frequently vomited on the floor and soiled her bed. She hardly ate, just smoked cocaine and drank fruit juice.”

This woman seems to have wanted to die. In fact, The Bastardly reports that Anna told FHM in a 2004 interview that she was involved in so many projects that “I’m probably gonna die at 37 like Marilyn.”

Anna Nicole Smith was an addict and a negligent mother. The people surrounding her, with the exception of the help, enabled her drug use. That seems to have been at Anna’s insistence, though. She may have been out of it but she didn’t hesitate to dump Larry Birkhead when he told her not to do drugs while she was pregnant with what he assumed was his baby.

Anna’s body is now in legal limbo. It has been released from Larry Birkhead’s court ruling that it be held until February 20 pending ruling on his paternity case, but now both Anna’s mother and Howard K Stern, the executor of her estate, are fighting over burial rights.

Little Dannielynn is still under Howard K Stern and his mother and sister’s care in that squatter estate in the Bahamas. She’s the real tragedy in the case.

The latest in the Anna Nicole Smith plot - do we care anymore

As the Anna Nicole story has even more twists and turns, I’m trying to decide if I give a shit anymore. Of course her body is unburied amid issues over who has control over the burial and two different court orders demanding Anna stick around until further rulings on DNA testing for Dannielynn’s paternity. It will probably hang around for weeks while the court cases drag on, rivalling her son’s record of 39 days between death and burial, and James Brown’s wait for a final resting place of 50 days and counting.

Anna’s mom Virgie Arthur has hired a Florida-based lawyer to try to get Anna’s body released for burial as soon as possible. Larry Birkhead’s court rulings prevent the corpse from being buried before a further ruling on February 20th. Arthur supports Birkhead’s paternity claim and it seems like she would want to work along with him in his quest to get DNA from Anna’s body. Also vying for Anna’s body are her lawyers. They told Birkhead that they would give him DNA from Anna if he would release the body, but they won’t give him the baby’s DNA and don’t seem to have much clout in the matter compared to her mother

Her mother is also trying in her trash-talking way to gain control of the half-billion dollar baby Anna barred her from seeing while she was still able to do so. She obtained an injunction from a Bahamian court that prevents Howard K Stern from leaving the country with the tot and filed a complaint with police that the baby is not safe in Howard’s custody.

Anna’s estranged mom said she didn’t want control of Dannielynn, but that she didn’t want Howard K Stern to have her, either. She said she thinks Larry Birkhead is the father and that he should be caring for the girl. A friend of Anna’s mom said “There’s two common denominators in the deaths of her daughter and her grandchild - drugs and Howard K. Stern,” which seems to explain why she doesn’t think the baby is safe in his care.

Meanwhile the 911 tapes have been released, and are rather boring. No one seems particularly excited or distraught over the fact that Anna is unresponsive, and the 911 operator isn’t impressed when told that she’s responding to a call for Anna Nicole Smith.

And a traffic ticket in which Larry Birkhead explained his speeding to a police officer by saying “I got a call from my pregnant girlfriend, she’s sick,” may be just the evidence he needs in his paternity case for Dannielynn. The officer actually wrote down “wife,” instead of girlfriend, and Birkhead’s spontaneous response may be seen as evidence that he believes he’s the father and is not just in it for the money.

Anna Nicole Smith found dead in Florida hotel room

Even though she’s not a”fashion model”, we think her death should be mentioned after all anorexia and diet discussions of the past fewmonths…
Heiress-reality TV star Anna Nicole Smith, 39, was announced dead upon arrival Thursday at the Memorial Regional Hospital in Floriday. Smith been staying at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
No cause for Smith’s death has been announced. CNN is reporting that despite earlier reports that Smith had been found unconscious in her room, she was in fact found already dead.
Smith had originally worked as a restaurant waitress before becoming a Playboy model, and then definitively jumping into the limelight when she married an elderly oil tycoon.
Smith’s death comes just one day after she and the diet company TrimSpa were named in a class-action lawsuit that alleged the diet company’s marketing was false or misleading. Smith was the spokeswoman for TrimSpa. The lawsuit had sought to stop TrimSpa - and Smith - from claiming that people could lose weight by using its product.
Relatedly, in January the US Federal Trade Commission said that TrimSpa would pay $1.5 million to settle claims that its diet products were unsubstantiated.
The TrimSpa case was just one of a series of events to hit Smith, including the death of her son Daniel last year in her Bahama’s hospital room where she had given birth to a daughter.
Following the death of her son, Smith had found herself involved in challenges regarding her daughter’s paternity. Smith had been ordered to submit her daughter for DNA testing by February 21 as part of the legal battle to determine who is the baby’s biological father, and that involved her ex-boyfriend Larry Birkhead.
On top of it all, Smith was still involved in a legal battle over the estate of the oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall, II who she married when she was 26. Marshall was 89 and died a year after they were married. Smith initially won a $474 million judgment against the Marshall’s estate and his son Pierce, however that was later cut to $89 million and then once again reduced to nothing.
In May the US Supreme Court ruled that Smith could pursue her claims to inheritance in California courts.

Anna Nicole Smith: 1967 - 2007 - was she pregnant

Anna Nicole Smith lived her tragic life in front of the cameras. She launched her career with an appearance on the cover of Playboy (after undoubtedly doing some favors for Hugh), was the trashy face of Guess jeans, starred in on a goofy reality show on E!, sold photos of her son’s last days, and even aired the video footage of her C-Section. Anna capitalized on her questionable fame by cashing in our interest in her car crash life.

She was working the afternoon strip shift when a then-married Smith met her husband, octogenarian billionaire J. Howard Marshall, in 1991. She divorced her other husband in 1993, married Marshall in mid 1994, and when he died just 13 months after they were married, she launched a prolonged legal battle for his estate that still continues to this day.

She had various well documented legal trouble, the most bothersome of which may have been her ex’s fight to establish paternity of her baby daughter, Dannielynn. The deadline for Anna to submit the infant to paternity testing had already passed, with Anna’s lawyer’s attempting a legal shell game to delay the tests. It must have weighed on her heavily.

The investigation by Bahamian authorities into her creepy lawyer’s role in the death of her son was about to start, and it’s not too much of a stretch to assume that she was worried about what they might find.

Anna was widely rumored to be addicted to the heroin substitute methadone, and a similar kind of drug interaction that was responsible for her son Daniel’s death may be to blame for her demise.

Anna may have even been pregnant when she met a suspicious end in a Florida hotel room. She made a joke on Entertainment Tonight that she might be pregnant, and said “oh, did I say that” afterwards. She mentioned that creepy hanger-on Howard K Stern wanted another baby, a boy, but that she wasn’t ready yet.

Was Anna pregnant at the time of her death Was she the victim of foul play We’ll have to wait and see with this story, and with all the drama in Anna’s life there are sure to be plenty of twists and turns to come.

Anna Nicole Smith Dead at 39 (update)

This is just horrible news. Anna Nicole Smith has died at the age of 39 after collapsing in her hotel room in Hollywood, Florida.

The blond bombshell ” who recently became tabloid fodder all over again after the sudden, apparently drug-related death of her 20-year-old son ” was found unresponsive while staying at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, said her attorney, Ron Rale. She was rushed to a hospital.

Edwina Johnson, chief investigator of the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office, said the cause of death is under investigation and an autopsy will be done on Friday………..

Meanwhile, the paternity of her now 5-month-old daughter remained a matter of dispute. The birth certificate lists Dannielynn’s father as attorney Howard K. Stern, Smith’s most recent companion. Smith’s ex-boyfriend Larry Birkhead was waging a legal challenge, saying he was the father.

Debra Opri, the attorney who filed his paternity suit, said Birkhead “is devastated. He is inconsolable, and we are taking steps now to protect the DNA testing of the child. The child is our number one priority.”

I really hope she didn’t kill herself. After all, she had a beautiful baby girl who counted on her, I can’t imagine how hard it’s going to be for Dannielynn to grow up without her. I hope the two daddies involved in the paternity suit find a civilized way to solve their issues and help Dannielynn have a chance at a normal life.

Note by Celebitchy: Thanks so much to Chic Mommy for covering this. I am on vacation in Spain with my family until Monday, and do have internet access from our room. This is incredibly shocking news. Like a lot of you, my first thought was that Howard K. Stern killed her to cash in on some kind of insurance and to avoid being revealed as a hanger-on who isn’t the father of Dannielynn. It’s possible that she died of a drug overdose or natural causes, we’ll have to wait for the results. There’s also a suspect rumor that her deceased son is the father of her baby, but I doubt that’s true. If there is any merit to that rumor, it would certainly give her motive to commit suicide.

Anna Nicole Smith got a new tattoo

Trashtastic Anna Nicole Smith and her weird boyfriend/lawyer Howard K. Stern took in the Samuel Peter vs. James Toney boxing match Saturday night in Florida. Smith and Stern are stateside by court order, and must submit Anna’s baby to paternity testing by January 23rd. Stern claims to be the father of the baby but the general consensus is that paparrazo Larry Birkhead is the biological father. Birkhead is suing Smith for custody.

MSNBC’s The Scoop reports that Anna is trying to set up an offshore company in order to hide potential assets from Birkhead. Anna is still fighting for a piece of the $1.6 billion estate of J. Howard Marshall, the 89 year-old guy she married and jerked off for a year before he died in 1995. His son, who was trying to bar Anna from cashing in on the will, passed away last summer, but word is that Anna doesn’t have much of a chance of getting the money now.

Anna Nicole showed off a new huge back tattoo that features her and her baby Dannielynn in a cute pose together. I first thought it was Anna’s departed son Daniel on the tattoo, but now it looks more like Anna to me. Whoever did the tattoo was probably as medicated as Anna usually is, and they certainly weren’t a talented artist. It would make more sense if it was supposed to be Daniel, but doesn’t it look like Anna
